Silent Auction Fundraiser featuring Suzanne Simpson’s Artwork
Friends of Binney Park is excited to announce a silent auction event featuring Suzy Simpson's artwork, generously donated by the artist. The benefit event will take place on Thursday, June 15th, from 6 to 8 pm at Images of Old Greenwich, 202 Sound Beach Avenue, Old Greenwich. Ms. Simpson will be in attendance at the event.
Works will continue to be available at Images until they have sold.
The auction will showcase Ms. Simpson's fine art landscapes of Binney Park, Bruce Park and Greenwich Point Park, including en plein air pencil drawings and watercolor paintings. The artist's stylized contemporary pencil and marker drawings will also be on display.
Ms. Simpson studied Chinese Classical painting in Taipei, Taiwan from 1958-1960, while her father was on assignment with the Navy. At the end of the tour, she was encouraged to have an exhibition, which helped form a cultural bridge between East and West. After studying at the International Institute of Interior Design in Washington, D.C, she used that skill to work with interior designers and realtors and had her own freelance business for over 55 years. Several years ago, Ms. Simpson decided to pursue landscape art, producing en plein air pencil drawings and watercolors.
“Switching from tight in-the-box perspectives to the more free-flowing, impressionistic, out-of-the-box landscapes was a challenge for the brain, jumping from the left side to the right side and back again.”
She has returned to more contemporary pencil and marker drawings, which help expand the imagination and create a unique style. Ms. Simpson has won numerous awards for her artwork.
"We are thrilled to have Suzy Simpson's artwork featured in our silent auction," said Peter Uhry, President of Friends of Binney Park. "We are grateful for her generosity and support of our organization. We hope the community will come out to support this event and bid on some incredible artwork.”
The funds raised through this auction will support Friends of Binney Park dedicated to preserving and enhancing the natural beauty and historical integrity of Binney Park. The event will offer attendees the chance to bid on the beautiful artwork while enjoying refreshments and a lively atmosphere.
We kindly request all interested participants to RSVP by visiting
